Celebrating and improving the best district in Bristol

It is with great disappointment that we start the New Year with a small increase in burglary figures for the Montpelier and St Werburghs Beats. Last summer when we finally achieved a 50% reduction on the monthly Burglary figures which continued up to December 2008.

However the figures doubled during the month of December and we believe that two persons known to police were committing the majority of these. The good news is that to date one of these males has been caught and the other is keeping his head down, but we will get hold of him and every effort is being taken as a matter of priority to arresting him, and the figures are dramatically decreasing again.

The other good news is that the area identified by our analysts as a burglary hot spot over the past few years, has had no burglaries what so ever. A lot of work has gone into calling on many of you in this area, which is in the heart of Montpelier, and the Bobbyvan men have been working endlessly to improve security of your dwellings, my thanks to them.

Parking issues still continue to be the number one issue of complaint, and a lot of work has gone into this area as well, especially by PCSO Clare Gardner and PCSO Kim Brown, this now means that they have several days in court coming up, my thanks to them as well.

All that’s left for me to do is to wish you all safe and prosperous 2009.

We have a highways agency liaison officer who works at Headquaters, i will contact her to see if she has already submitted any thoughts on this. I believe that our concerns will be access for emergency vehicles first and foremost, and I am all in favour for reducing pavement parking as this is our number one complaint. Will update you when i have something more

Thanks Simon. Are you putting forward a police view for the area on the proposed residents parking zones. It would be good to hear your thoughts on this.

Good wishes,

Dan
