Evening post take Bristol City Council to task over Montpelier rubbish

The Bristol Evening Post is running a story on the St. Andrews Road dump http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/homepage/Bristol-City-Council-land-dump/article-786018-detail/article.html However, they have failed to pick-up on the broader themes of detritus that plague the area: - Dog fouling - Ripped-open rubbish bags a permanent feature of the streets - Wheelie-bins crowding the p… Continue

From Robin via Dan - a MAG update

Hi It's been a while since you've heard for me or MAG - for various reasons, the main one being the focus on Mont Park over the last year. We are now making progress with our improvement proposals being assessed and costed by the Council, and about £90k has been initially identified as a budget towards works for the Park. If you didn't join the Park mail group a year or so ago, and want to know more about what is going on now, let me know and I will send you a copy of the proposals and put you i… Continue

http://www.fixmystreet.com/

Just discovered a great tool for quickly informing the relevant authority about a problem in the local area. Go to , type in your postcode, stick a pin in the map, upload a photo if you can, and quickly describe the problem. The data gets fed to the Council. It's great because it allows problems to be tracked and shared by the whole community. Give it a go! Continue

If you look in the "Forums" bit of the website, there's a discussion started by Kevin Dennis on this issue, which prompted this as an agenda item.

To cut a long story short, there are problems with drug use in the park and drugs litter being left behin… Continue

Phone box at the bottom of St Andrew's Road, Montpelier, BS6

An issue that's been discussed at both MAG meetings so far has been local residents concerned by the phone box being used for arranging drugs drop-offs.

While people's ideas about recreation differ, there is lots of evidence, in the form of left-over needles, that the park next to the 'phone box gets used for drug-taking, and the litter is potentially harmful to those who use the park. The police have advised that they have spoken to BT, who have not been very helpful, and advise reside… Continue
